Davy Sage’s “Controlling” Sparks Choreography at EXP Studio in Fukuoka, Japan

As an independent Afrobeat artist, Davy Sage has continued to push boundaries, and his song “Controlling” recently beautifully crossed borders. In Fukuoka, Japan, dancers from the renowned EXP Studio discovered his track and made magic out of it. This unexpected and inspiring connection started on Instagram and has become a moment of cultural exchange through music and dance.

It all began when the dancers from EXP Studio stumbled upon “Controlling” through a random Instagram page. The track’s infectious rhythm and smooth Afrobeat groove immediately caught the attention of the studio’s dance instructor, who saw the potential for a dynamic, captivating choreography. Soon, the dancers were working hours, creating a full routine that embodied the song’s essence.

The choreography, which blends urban dance styles with the fluid energy of Afrobeat, captures the song’s smooth vibe, and the dancers’ skills perfectly complement the vibrant rhythm of “Controlling.” Their video quickly gained attention online, and it wasn’t long before it found its way back to Davy Sage himself.

Months after the choreography was posted, Davy Sage came across the video on Instagram and was thrilled by the dancers’ interpretation of his music. “It’s incredible to see how far music can travel and touch people,” he shared. “I was blown away by their talent and creativity, and it’s so special to see something I made inspire others in such a powerful way.”

Eager to know more about the dancers and their process, Davy Sage reached out to EXP Studio to connect with them directly. In a heartwarming exchange, he set up an interview to learn more about the group, their inspiration for the choreography, and the dance culture at EXP Studio. The dancers were equally excited to speak with the artist behind the song that had moved them so deeply.

This moment is not just a celebration of the song “Controlling,” but also a beautiful example of the universal language of music and dance. Despite being continents apart, Davy Sage’s music reached EXP Studio, and in return, their creativity brought new life to his song, sparking a cross-cultural connection.

As an independent Afrobeat artist, these kinds of moments are a testament to the power of music and the reach of social media in bridging gaps and creating meaningful collaborations. It’s also a reminder that you never know where your art might land or who it might inspire.

Stay tuned for the interview with EXP Studio, where Davy Sage will dive deeper into this special connection and talk more about their collaboration, dance culture, and the journey of “Controlling.”
